My Career From Here

My career from here is to become a juvenile probation officer. The reason I have chosen this career is because I want to help children that always get in trouble to get out of trouble. I want to be that person they can come to and talk to whenever they get into trouble or even have a problem. I also understand that I will also need to be hard on them and let them know that just because they have made a mistake does not mean they can not go on and better their life.
My specific goals in place for accomplishing this career are attending and graduating from college. I will be doing any summer interns that involve this career choice. If I am not able to do the internship, I will go to different probation offices just to observe what they do on a daily basis.
The job expectations I have are to be the top probation officer in the state. I know I have a long way to go to get to this job, but I plan on going through police academy so I will have a better understanding of the law enforcement. This means I will most likely become a police or correctional officer to better prepare me for being a probation officer.
The alternate career choices I have in mind are either to become, a detective or high school guidance counselor. In both these careers probation officers skills are used. Therefore, either I will be helping children or I will be with the law enforcement. If I am not able to do both at least I know I would be able to do one or the other. By being a counselor I would be able to talk to children about the problems that they have at home and how their problems interfere with their work at school. Being a detective I will be able to solve many murders, rape, etc. crimes. Doing either would make me feel good. It would make me happy knowing that I was able to help someone else live a better life.
