English-Creative Writing Portfolio

Task One: I have chosen to describe a child who is bullied at school.

Constantly hiding behind a false image of strength, she is forced to disguise her inner self. Harsh words repeatedly replay themselves over and over in the back of her mind, piercing through her esteem, and leaving her with no place to hide.

Avoiding close relationships, she relys on herself for entertainment and fulfillment, afraid that those around her, could not understand.

She blames herself for the ridicule and hate bestowed upon her.If only they understood the pain and hurt she will now possess for the extent of her life.

Task Two: I have chosen to describe a troubled teenager.

Seemingly impossible to find a desired path.Lost in her own world, she finds it difficult to connect with those around her. Self image causing hate and anger, not only toward ones self, but to those she holds close. Jealous, confused, materialistic and distracted best describe her inner thoughts.

Observing the male species-either as an 'enemy', or the accessory every girl must have. Following the crowd, and refraining from sharing her own opinion, she is living her life by someone elses wishes.

Curfews, chores, break-ups, fights and differing views cause havoc. Many harsh words exchanged. This is how she releases the anger she hides deep within herself.

Rebelling and refusing to take advice lead her into trouble, and leave her in situations she feels she may never get herself out of.

Support from those around her, assures her that it will be ok, and this is all a part of growing up.

Stressed and alone, she continues down the path of self discovery, completely unaware of what the future holds, and the person she is yet to become.

Task Three: My Utopia

I glance around the island to see smiles upon each and every persons face. The sound of laughter fills my ears and i am overcome by a sense of togetherness. This island is far from the issues of the everyday world. Surrounded by those i love-I feel complete.

The sensation of sand in between my toes, the wind caressing my hair, and the obvious smell of sea water make me feel at home.

I hear the familiar voice of Trent. The young boy with whom i grew up with. It seems he has come back to life, and wishes to play beach cricket.Just like the old days. He informs us that he has returned for good. The empty feeling we all once held, has now disappeared.

As i hold my puppy Jessie close, I see two small white objects running in my direction. Jessie begins to bark and attempts to wriggle her way out of my firm grip.

The objects have now become clear, and it takes only a second for me to realise what they are.

My two dogs, Jacko and Ralph, have now also returned. Jessie runs up to greet them. I can tell by the wagging of their tails, that they have not been this happy in a long time.

Their happiness fills me with the identical feeling.

My close friends walk over to share the moment with me.These girls are like sisters. We're so deeply involved in each others lives, and we're destined to be friends forever.

We all gaze around the island in disbelief.
