The sun is burning on my sweaty back in this 86Ð'Ñ" weather. Being right next to the lake did not help one bit, there were no lake breezes like the weather man had predicted. And I'm running, pushing myself to do better, "Three more miles and it's over!"

One by one people passed me, old men and old ladies passed me, "This is not acceptable! Absolutely not!" I push harder, pacing myself, I caught up. Seeing the Gatorade coming up within fifty feet caused me to feel ecstatic, "Thirst Quencher here I come!"

Three, two, one, I grabbed it! And continued to run and drink at the same time. My standard for this race is to finish without stopping; this is a way to test my own abilities and my determination, "I am doing this for myself and no one else!" Two miles left, the environment changed, the sun was no longer beating on my perspiring back but instead was light rays given off by the fluorescent

light bulbs on Wacker Drive. The sudden rush of coolness woke me up and I was able to focus more on what the standard that I've set for myself.

My feet was inflamed with blisters but it's all in the mind and was able to push pass the pain and continue on this thirteen mile race. When I saw the finish line approaching slowly, everything else was blurry, the whole world became silent, and nothing became as important as my finish line and my end. I made a one block sprint towards my end, my finish. I never stopped and passing my ending, I knew it wouldn't be the last adventure for me. I knew I would encounter this again: my pain, and in the end my ambition and my determination will prevail and I will be victorious!
