Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Write a letter to Your Teacher: Introduction & Body Paragraph
It has been said that "you can't judge a book by its cover." This means that you cannot evaluate things by the externals. You should know what's on the inside. This statement is true. We can see that if we analyze the setting and the character in the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Both of these literary elements help us to see that you should never evaluate things by the externals.
The setting is the time, place and environment in which a story takes place. Buffy the Vampire Slayer takes place in the present in Sunnydale, a small town in California. Sunnydale appears to be a typical American town. It is peaceful, sunny and clean. The people who live there are welcoming. However, we learn that Sunnydale is located on a hellmouth. At night, vampires and other demons kill the people who live there. Therefore, we can see from the setting of Buffy the Vampire Slayer that we should never evaluate things by their externals.
This saying can also be demonstrated by analyzing the character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. A character is a person who takes part in the play. In this show, Angel is one of the main characters. We learn that he is a vampire from the show. However, he is different from other vampires and demons. He doesn't bit or kill people. He also protects Buffy from danger. He gives important information to her. Despite the fact that he is a vampire, he is really helpful and warm-hearted. This also shows us that we should never evaluate things by their externals.
