Introduction
A new theme is a beginning of new experiences and a lot of learning. Theme 3 brought forth a lot of new perspectives on the industry- firms and markets. The complexities of decision making and the various aspects of the industry and business, was introduced in this theme along with a taste of all the core subjects of business. Theme 3 did help in preparing me for the next theme and newer experiences.
Theme -3
Micro Economic Perspective was an extension of the Micro Economics course in the previous theme. Although the course was a bit hard for a fresher to economics like me, the information was quite interesting and the classes were interactive. However a lack of adequate case studies and application knowledge was lacking in the course. It would have been more interesting and useful if the theoretical knowledge was combined with the actual or simulated application of the economic theories along with an analysis on the current scenarios.
Legal Perspective on business was a course on the Mercantile laws and brought forth a new aspect of business that was hitherto in a latent state. The implication of various contracts, the degree of caution and awareness that a manager should exercise in making decisions and the various legislations that are in effect in our country, made up for an interesting series of classes further enlivened by a competent tutor. A mix of real-life examples would have made it more gripping.
Functional Perspectives on the various core subjects like Marketing, Human Resources, Operations, Finance and Systems were like an introductory series for the core subjects. All sessions were extremely education although finance and HR lacked in adequate information on real-life application and practice. A set of case studies along with articles and notes by learned personalities in the field, would help a lot in making the course
