Wake up everybody no more sleeping in bed. No more backward thinking time for thinking ahead. The world has changed so very much from what it used to be so...Wake up all the teachers' time to teach a new way. Maybe then they'll listen to what you have to say. Cause they're the ones who's coming up and the world is in their hands. When you teach the children teach them the very best you can (Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, 1975).
Education is very important to ones future, from some it's the only way they can raise above their current socioeconomic status. All those involved in the education of children should be held accountable for their performance, resources are imperative to children's success, and state should have Common Core Standards.
Accountability
Board Members, administrators, teachers and parents all need to be held accountable for student's performance. Board Members are responsible for the quality of the curriculum, they set the standards. Administrators, especially principals set the atmosphere for the staff, school and parents. They are responsible for overseeing the teachers and making sure they do their job. Teachers are the "directors" of student learning, they assign grades, assess the students' abilities and teach the curriculum that was approved by the board. Most parents provide support to their children, they are the pep squad, enforcer and teacher. Parents should reinforce what their children learn in school and be a support system for them.
Educators are the solution to Our Educational Problems.
Public education as we know it today is riddled with many problems. I believe educators can change this especially teachers. Teachers work with our kids on a daily bases and are aware of what resources the schools they teach at need as well as what support our kids need. Unfortunately they don't have a voice when it comes to curriculum development. Teachers should be part of the curriculum development. This will not solve all the problems in our educational system, but it will be a step towards improvement.
Resources
Resources are imperative to a child's education. If a schools lacks any resources it will be hard for students to succeed. Today's schools are lacking highly qualified and experienced teachers and this is one of the many factors that are effecting many minority children.
Spending more money will not guarantee higher preforming schools.
We need a new vision and a new approach. A broader, bolder approach offers part of the way forward. This must be combined with strategies that improve the quality of teaching and increase the accountability and responsiveness of schools to the communities they serve (Williams & Noguera, 2010).
