Working for a resort as a PBX operator is harder then you might think. You will have to learn how to answer multiple-lines, archive phone calls, and learn how to use a radio to contact several departments. Doing a job that has many different duties is very hard at first. With trial and error you will become proficient at any job.
When answering a multi-line phone, you have to remember which call came first, and you need to have patience with every person that calls(especially the ones who hate being on hold). You will also learn how to transfer calls to the right department, which also is very difficult because you have to remember each department’s extensions. You will learn how to operate a radio that enables you to contact different departments throughout the resort. You will also learn specific codes for specific actions. If you do not use the correct radio language, the resort can lose their radio license. Each department has its own channel on the radio, and codes. You will also need to log every time you use the radio by writing down which department you contacted and what the challenge was.
