Organ Donation
When you become a donor you have the opportunity to save a complete a complete stranger’s life. A 38-year-old cop named Todd Musgraves felt he needed to do something more he realized that there were over 100,000 people were waiting for a kidney. So he started looking into altruistic kidney donation, which means a person donates their unneeded kidney to a complete stranger. “After he’d passed all the necessary tests, Musgraves flew to Baltimore..he was put under anesthesia and one of his kidneys was cut out...When Masse woke up, Musgraves gift was already pumping away inside her body, cleaning her blood like magic.” (Bures). Tom Musgraves was able to save a woman's life. Another example of how donating you organs changes someone's life is 53 year old Dubose who was diagnosed with high blood pressure when she was only 20 years old, ten years later she was diagnosed with the renal disease, just like her mother. She waited 15 years for a kidney, until one day she got a call that an 18-year-old female had died in an accident and she was getting one of her kidneys, that girl changed her life. A few years later she said “When you donate, you change the life of more than one person. Our people have a lot of stigmas about organ donation. But you have to think about how many people’s lives you can change” (Davis). Dubose’s life was changed by a complete stranger. Nobody knows when something bad will happen to them, if something happened to you and you were able to donate your organs to save someone's life, why wouldn't you want to?
Some people may think, why would I donate my organs to a complete stranger? However, donating your organs can save someone's life and there is no cost to you. To illustrate, “Unfortunately, thousands die every year waiting for a donor organ that never comes.” (Why Donate). Without organ donors, people who honestly, don't deserve to die,
