  1. Natural gas is mainly made up of which alkane?

Natural gas is a hydrocarbon gas mixture mainly made up of methane. Although, can be seen including varying amounts of other higher alkanes. As well as a small percentage of carbon dioxide, and nitrogen. 

  1. Give the structural isomers for the compound C6H14.

There are 5 structural isomers of hexane. They are, n-hexane; 2-methylpentane; 3-methylpentane; 2,2-dimethylbutane; 2,3-dimethylbutane.

  1. a. Research and list the boiling point of the first 10 alkanes.

Here is the picture I found of the boiling points of the first 10 alkanes.

b. Explain the trend you observe in their boiling points.

The first 10 alkanes seem to have low boiling points. The trend I have noticed in the boiling points of the alkanes, observed on the chart above was the boiling point increasing regularly as the number of carbon atoms was increased.
