Organization's structure is the heart of every business. Overwhelmingly, the structure or design of the organization and the quality of the people determine the success of the business. Many investors and customers base their investment choices almost entirely on the structure and strength of the people involved in the company. "Organization structure is a formal system of relationships that determines lines of authority (who report to whom) and the tasks assigned to individuals and units (who doses what and with which department)" (Gomez-Mejia, 2002, P.126).
As a team we thoroughly examined the background and the organizational structure at Kudler Fine Foods. However, when we describing Kudler's organizational structure we could say that it is well designed and intended. Kudler's organization structure showed and performed powerful invisible forces that shaped both the daily working atmosphere and the future of the company. The founder of Kudler (Kathy) clearly described her organization structure and lines of authority. Using a flow chart she took particular care in crafting her management section. She designed how employees will be supervised and how job functions will be allocated. While clear lines of authority are vital in large organizations, they are equally important in small companies such as Kudler Fine Foods.
Kudler Fine Foods' flow chart described formal organizational structure and also showed informal structures which can have at least as much impact on the company. For example the flow chart showed Kudler's managers, teams and employees responsibilities and other outlining reporting or supervisory relationship. It clearly illustrated each worker's task and with which department. It also described which managers have the most impact on decisions and which managers have access to the president. Kathy used horizontal management structures when she was designing her organizational structure
