First, I would like to explain organizational behavior. Organizational behavior is a field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within organizations, for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving organizations effectiveness. When working in an environment, it is very important to know organizational behavior skills. The staff and I at the Student Disability Resource Center where I work use some of the challenges and opportunities for organizational behavior such as responding to globalization, managing workforce diversity, and improving in our customer service skills.
Second, is organizational culture it is also known as corporate culture, it is a powerful determinant of employee behavior that plays an important role in success of an organization and the achievement of its mission and goals. That function of organizational culture is known as the external adaptation dealing with how to go about achieve it goals and working with the employees as well as the customers. Howe ever; there is another function which is known as the internal integration which deals with the creation of a collective identity and with finding ways of matching methods of working and living together. (Schermerhorn and Osborn 2005).
Third, Diversity includes all the ways in which people differ and it encompasses all different characteristics that make one individual or group different from another. It is all inclusive and recognizes everyone and every group as part of the diversity that should be valued.
Valuing diversity is about being responsive to a wide range of people unlike oneself according to any number of distinctions: race, gender, class, native language, national origin, physical ability, age, sexual orientation, professional experience and work style.
Managing diversity involves empowering people or enabling employees. Prescribes approaches that are philosophically broad enough to encompass all dimensions of diversity. Managing diversity also emphasizes every employee's contribution to the organizational goals.
Diversity training is referred to as training and education to raise awareness about individual differences and about related changes in the workplace and to create behavior changes that is required to effectively manage work within a diverse workforce.
Diversity initiatives are specific activities, programs, policies, and any other formal processes or efforts designed for promoting organizational culture change related to diversity. Diversity is the uniqueness of all individuals, which encompasses different personal attributes, values, and organizational roles.
