Organizational Behavior Terminology and Concepts Paper

As the workforce continues to grow it is becoming more apparent that organizational behavior plays a big role in today's society. With the use of organizational behavior, managers can better aid their companies in obtaining there goals. Along with Organizational behavior there are several other key terminologies and concepts that are important to not only to understand but also to implement in the workforce. This paper will not only describe the key terminology and concepts but will also give examples as to how they are used within a company.

"Organizational Behavior is the study and application of knowledge about how people, individuals, and groups act in organizations. It does this by taking a system approach. That is, it interprets people-organization relationships in terms of the whole person, whole group, whole organization, and whole social system. Its purpose is to build better relationships by achieving human objectives, organizational objectives, and social objectives" (Clark, 1998). At Mobil 1 Lube Express diversity exists without prejudice. It is apparent if one visits the store that it encourages diversity within the company. With different types of diversity in the workplace coworkers are able to feel not only comfortable but also that they play a key role in the success of the business. Diversity can also give management different viewpoints that can help the company with new ideas.

Communication can be described as "Any act by which one person gives to or receives from another person information about that person's needs, desires, perceptions, knowledge, or affective states" (Scherba, 2002). At Mobil 1 Lube Express communication is one of the most important functions necessary in order to even complete one day. The communication that is used helps every employee to understand what is going on at all times. If there is a brake within the communication there can be many harmful consequences.
