“Our Ford”

“Our Ford” is used by everyone in Brave New World. Society uses this term instead of Our Father or any name of the Lord and even when they address the creator of the basic technology in which their society is based on. “Our Ford” is used in times of happiness, disappointment, and praise. God is technology and Henry Ford is the one who created it.

Society was conditioned to use “Our Ford” in the place of the Lords name. Their God is Ford because he is the one who created the technology that eventually was improved upon and had them created.. He is the one that brought life to them. His inventions cloned them all so God was not involved. In their minds, Ford is God and Ford is their savior. In circumstances where God’s name would be used, Fords is instead. The name God isn’t even in their vocabulary, Ford is the new term. Henry Ford is the founder of the technology that is the basis of the inventions of the future. His brilliance brought a wave of engineering triumphs that made life possible for the world.

Ford is the creator of the utopia society lives in. He brought them from despair and hardships into a life of happiness through his inventions. Ford created a civilization far superior than any other before. There is only happiness in society and everyone praises him with the phrase “Our Ford”. The civilized people speak of Ford only as “Our Ford”. It is a sign of respect and love toward their creator. It is used in the utmost respect and love. It is a sign of submission.

In today’s world, Jesus’ name is used. He lived, died, and rose again and will return someday. In Brave New World, society speaks of Henry Ford as if he is Jesus and he will return to them.
