Title: Ways to Overcome Stress
Introduction
Thesis statement: Stress can be dealt and managed in many ways such as identifying the sources of stress in your life, exercising to make the body active and meditating to make the body less tense.
Body
1.0 The first effective step to overcome stress is by identifying the sources of stress in your life (Mayo Clinic, 2017).
1.1 In order to learn how to manage stress better, view stressful events as hindrances or as chances (Bressert, 2016).
A It is a good thing if a person can identify stressful situations that happen in their life as they have made the first move to manage their stress better. Since they have found what was the stress is, they did not have to suffer more stress in the process of finding for it.
B People can succeed more in handling the stress in their own way when they find the root of their stress and start to understand how it can be stressful to them.
1.2 Stress can be distinguished by listing down the situations, worries or obstacles that can aggravate the stress response (Mayo Clinic, 2017).
A Take some time to jot down some of the main issues you are currently going through in your daily life on a piece of paper.
B Later on, you will acknowledge that a part of your stressors derived from events that occur to you while other part of it can also derive from the internal.
2.0 The second step to overcome stress is by exercising to make your body active.
2.1 Exercise can be a good option to handle your stress (Bressert, 2016).
A Exercise that can make the heart and lungs work harder certainly helps the body to use up the excess of stress-induced hormones such as aerobic exercise.
B Robert Leahy, PhD, head of the American Institute for Cognitive Therapy and author of Beat the Blues Before They Beat You indicates that exercise is like free medication and though medicine might process faster in reducing the feelings of stressed and depression, regular exercise can help reduced it better in a longer period of time instead (Goad, 2016).
2.2 With a constant practice of exercise over a long period of time, it can help to reduce stress. (Bressert, 2016)
A It is vital to start in a slow pace in the beginning of an exercise program.
B Starting an exercise program with a lot of eagerness and excitement but ended up to stop
exercising after a week or two as it is too stressful will only be ineffective to deal with stress.
3.0 Last but not least, meditating can also be helpful to deal with stress.
3.1 “Mindfulness meditation” is known as one of the most used type of meditation in the world (Bressert, 2016).
A The meditator will be trained to relax his or her mind comfortably in the present moment even during stressful situations as it builds an in-depth sense of relaxation and lucidity of mind.
B Worrying or fearing anxiously about the past or the future can be reduced by having a relaxed and settled mind to be able to cope better with stress.
3.2 Transcendental meditation and the relaxation response are other popular types of meditation used for managing the stress (Bressert, 2016).
A National Institutes of Health reported and concluded that, “Suggestion has been made after researching for more than 30 years along with the experiences of increasing number of individuals and healthcare providers which meditation and similar kinds of relaxation can contribute to better health, higher quality of life and reduced healthcare expenses.”
