Life is a journey that is defined by experience and discussions. Throughout life, it is essential that one must undergo cultural development to understand the true nature of human beings on a macro level. The experience of studying abroad with the vast diversity of the world is one that should not be missed. I am a person whose life is shaped by the interactions and influences of his environment.

Studying abroad will give me the opportunity to reach out to, and experience, different cultures that I would not normally be exposed to on a daily basis. By this exposure, I will not only gain in the first hand understanding of a different, yet equal, way of life, but also I will make friendships with people of various backgrounds that would only enhance who I already am. While experiencing the unique cultures of the various destinations on the voyage, the class room experience that is at the core of the semester. This would only accentuate the experience abroad by allowing discussion among peers with different points of view.

The experience aboard The Scholar Ship would greatly enhance my career potential when I do graduate from college. The experience would prepare me for the way business is conducted on an international level. The group dynamic, that is innate while aboard a ship, would prepare me for team projects that are common in the business environment. Also the management of time while balancing school and field trips would greatly correlate to better time management while multi-tasking on different tasks on the job.

Understanding the different points of view on an international level is an experience of a life time. It is an experience that I do not wish to go without on my journey through life. Being a part of a bigger world then just the United States is a part of me that I need to develop to become the person I want to be.
