Athletic Training Education Program
(ATEP)
The AT Major
The Athletic Training major at PBA works toward the successful completion of a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree with a concentration in Exercise Science. The program is designed to provide the student with knowledge of the prevention, acute care, assessment and rehabilitation of orthopaedic injuries; organization and administration needs of a sports medicine facility; professional development opportunities; and preparation for the Board of Certification (BOC) national examination.
Accreditation Status
The Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) at PBA is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
As with all athletic training education programs, the student will not be able to practice the athletic training profession upon completion of the degree. Rather, the athletic training student will be eligible and prepared to sit for the NATABOC exam. When the exam is passed, the student is then certified to practice Athletic Training.
The Exercise Science concentration at PBA has been recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as an approved educational institution and prepares students to be eligible for the NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) exam.
