- Introduction
How much this Shanghai internship programme meant to me? It really matters to me. For fulfilling my WIE requirement? Apparently, yes, but it's partial. I am a year 3 student majoring in Accounting. Generally, most people may think that Accounting should be very boring, and you have to book keeping all the time. To some extent, these thoughts were also in my mind. Or more precisely, I was still confusing about what I was learning. Therefore, this internship programme provides me a great opportunity to learn out of the box, and make clear what Accounting actually is. I was so excited once I have received the offer from Shanghai Judicial Accounting Centre, because it was completely matched with my major, and also the company sounded so cool and professional. I started to search in the internet, and attempted to find out more information about the company, even I have tried to use some online maps to "explore" their building. However, I have failed to do so since not too much information was available, and the company seemed quite mystical. I had to know the company by myself.
Shanghai Judicial Accounting Centre, as the name suggests, is an accounting company providing forensic accounting service. It primarily cooperates with police or other judicial organization to fight against commercial crime. My duties was mainly checking the daily operation records of different companies, and trying to find out any unusual transactions or deviant behaviors occurred. Moreover, I had to analyze and categorize the data for continuous processing. Actually, all the tasks was completely different with what I have learnt from school. Also, Ms Shan, my supervisor, was very busy all the time, thus she did not have too much time to tell us the details, or sometime she couldn't tell us too much due to the confidential nature. Therefore, in the first few days, I did have no idea what I was doing, and it was extremely challenging for me and my colleague, Miko, who also came from PolyU.
At the beginning, our efficiency was seriously low, and even sometimes we have made mistakes in some complicated tasks. However, we worked closely as a team, and we supported each other whenever we have run into the bottleneck. Also, we always wandered around together as an exploration team after work, and we have built up precious friendship which I treasure mostly in this internship programme.
To sum up, this journey have a great impact on my life. My carefulness is enormously improved through processing complicated data. Also, I gain a sense of achievement after completing such challenging missions, and it gives me motivation and confidence to achieve a larger goal in the future. More importantly, I gains valuable friendship between my group mates. We hung out together, ate together, travelled together. We just like a family, and care each other. Impressed me most was that my buddies took care of me when I was seriously sick in Shanghai, I felt so sweet and full of love. The friendship is my greatest reward earned from this internship programme, and I love Group D!

Personal Growth
What impact did this experience have on my personal growth?
Honestly, I was a reactive people, and tended to protect my inner self hardly. However, I have met a group of buddies in this internship programme, and they were so friendly and funny. They made me step bravely forward to exploring myself, and let them know me more. Also, I have re-comprehended myself from their eyes, and their feedbacks would help me to be a better man. Moreover, I have become more independent, and also dared to try something new during the journey, for example, horse riding, archery, adventure etc. All these are some great experiences and memories for me, and make me courageous.
