Political parties and interest groups are vital to the democratic process. They get the candidates names out there, bring up important issues, and it is a way to get the people involved in government. Both groups affect the way the voting process turns out. They are the basis on which the decision of who to vote for is made. Voters decide on causes or political parties to support before they consider candidates to vote for.
The people of the U.S. pick what parties to join and what groups to follow before they even begin to think about who to vote for in the next election. These groups are key in the democratic process because of the power they have on the people, they want a leader that agrees with them on important issues such as taxes, and military action and being defined in a party or a group helps the people determine who they want to vote for. “Some interest groups focus on issues that concern only a limited number of people. Others, however, are involved in causes in which almost everyone has a stake.” (Why should you care about interest groups, PG 246, Part three, People and Politics) interest groups get people’s attention because the groups focus on controversial topics, getting people to voice their opinions, in the groups they discuss political leaders that agree with what they are for or against and in turn they affect the voting polls and the U.S. government. Interest groups work hand in hand, with political parties and democracy. It helps people voice their opinions when they know there are many groups of people to help back their ideas up.
These parties help get ideas out there, get the candidates names out there, bring up important issues, and it is a way to get the people involved in government. Without these parties the U.S. government wouldn’t have as many politically active citizens.
