Outsiders are people labeled as outcast. To summarize the book Ponyboy talks about how his gang are outsiders. Due to this feud between the groups Bob,Johnny, and Dally die. The theme in the story is that people should always stay together and that life is short ; live it to the fullest no matter if you are a greaser or a soc. People are all the same in the end. The Outsider movie and book compare and contrast in terms of fights, and deaths.
Compare means similarities and in the book and the movie they compare in terms of deaths. To begin with in the Outsiders Dally dies the same in the book and movie by robbing a store and then running to a payphone and telling his gang to meet him in the park. Then Dally dies by getting shot, so all of that happened because he was upset that Johnny dies. Likewise the director/author kept it the same because to show that greasers have feelings too. Furthermore when Bob and his gang where looking for a fight Ponyboy and Johnny were running away from home and they ended up in the park to cool down. Meanwhile Bob’s gang went to the park and started to fight with Ponyboy and Johnny. They were getting beaten up when Ponyboy was almost drowning Johnny went behind Bob and stabbed him and it killed him immediately. The director kept this in the movie and the book because it shows that Bob’s gang was drunk and that it moves the plot forward and having them running away. To conclude this is how the movie and the book compare in many ways.
Contrast means differences in the book and the movie in terms of character interaction’s. First of all, in the book Dally threw Ponyboy to the ground when the church was on fire it showed that Dally didn't want Ponyboy to get hurt. However the director change this because in the movie it was trying to make Ponyboy look more tough. Equally Important, Two/bit picks on the Socs. Do to this the director chang it to show antagonism and to add humor.
