What is Wrong With Pornography?

Introduction

Pornography is unbridled and out of control nowadays. What with the advance technologies available nowadays, it is easy to gain access to such explicit contents. This is derived from the Greek word pornographos meaning the portrayal of prostitutes and more often than not expresses the graphic portrayal of erotic behavior premeditated to stimulate and stir up sexual feelings . Where there is sexual thrill, there is also sexual yearning. In short simple words, pornography is anything that causes lust which is considered to be one of the deadly sin.

Uncontrolled sexual impulses destroy lives and damage society. This issue deeply concerns and excites the passions of people in many countries. Of course, many would think pornography to be one of the least pressing of the issues that face us. Indeed, some regard pornography as raising only trivial issues in itself, and as becoming important only as other people inflate its importance to the point where they are prepared to interfere with fundamental democratic freedoms. Nevertheless, many regard pornography as an affront to the dignity and self-respect of half of the human species, if not as creating the risk of serious harm to women through its effects on its users . Still others consider pornography to be an evil in itself, regardless of its possible effects on others, and think that its widespread use is symptomatic of a crisis of values in various societies.

Although part of the concept of pornography is its relationship to sexual feelings or activities, the most important and difficult social issues raised by pornography are not concerned with its sexual content. They are concerned with its sometimes recommending, condoning, or portraying acts of unjustified physical coercion, such as rape, involuntary bondage, torture and mutilation, and sex between adults and children. Acts of physical coercion are morally wrong unless they are justified by such circumstances as self-defense, defense of others, or prevention of greater harms. Additionally, people have a right to society's efforts to protect everyone from unjustified physical coercion and an obligation to contribute to the protection of others from it.

People should be aware that pornography provides an escape from reality for those who view it which is also the same effects of drugs and alcohol wherein its use can lead to addiction . This habit cheapens and belittles women and sex and influences how its viewers think about the world around them. There is a possibility wherein they wouldn't view women as human beings but rather as sex objects and sex would be of little value when instead it would have been an act of love in the confines of marriage, it becomes a means for their own pleasure and indulgence. This castle in the sky world hampers their capability to work and think right in the world around them
