To many, the idea of college may seem trivial. Some believe we should begin our lives at the end of our high school career and find ourselves in a grown up society. However, I feel as if a post-secondary education is necessary in life. In primary and secondary schooling, we are taught that education is the most important attribute one can hold. It is the one thing no one can ever take from you, no matter how hard they try. Though I thoroughly agree that education is important, I solely believe that a proper education can not be achieved without persistence. Coming from a household where my parents have to work harder than the average person to create a stable income, I see the value of setting goals and achieving them. I dream of the day where I can tell my parents that I did it, I graduated from college. Not many people in my family completed college giving a special meaning to the word ‘graduated’. In today's society, people tend to use a college degree as a means to validate themselves to one another, yet I feel differently. A college degree proves to me that hours of countless flashcards and sleepless nights was completely worth it. It proves my that unending persistence gives me a purpose in the grand scheme of life. Without the motivation that all of my hard work would be a means to an end, it would be hard to be so determined in the journey of learning. I hope to one day complete pharmacy school to use my love of science to help others and with my tenacious personality I know I can accomplish it.
