Elizabeth Bennet is the female protagonist of the novel. She appeared at first through the conversation of her parents "...Lizzy has something more of quickness than her sisters..." The novel is told according to the changes in her thoughts. Elizabeth was born in a middle class family. They owned a small country estate of Longbourn in England. The strory took place in the time of 18th-19th centrury, where the class distinction was still deep in the society.

Mr. Darcy: "his having ten thousand a year" "fine, tall, handsome creature" "much handsomer than Bingley ...was looked with great admiration" "he is the proudest, most disagreeable man in the world" At first he did not pay so much attention to Elizabeth ...

Prejudice:

Mrs. Bennet, a mother of five grown daughters, always desire strongly to see them all settled. This desire made humored characteristics of hers: talkative, over proud of her children, took every chance to talk about and show off her daughters. Her saying at the opening of the story "My dear Mr. Bennet, have you heard that Netherfield Park is let at last?" has become one of the most famous sentences in English literature. Her disposition is therefore defined by her strong desire to see all the daughters married.

Mr. Bingley was described as "what a young man ought to be". Bingley possessed an asset of five thousand pounds a year, which drove Mrs. Bennet crazy in the hope that he would marry one of her daughters. Beside wealth, he appeared to be sociable, friendly and soon be admired by everyone he met. Bingley had an deep affair with the eldest Miss Bennet, Jane, but he was no so consistent that he was persuaded by his friend Darcy to give up when Darcy saw Jane's indifference to Bingley. However, the couple in the end got married.
