In this act Elizabeth Proctor already had the baby. It has been nine years since John Proctor's death and John, the son of Elizabeth and John Proctor only nine years old is sitting with Elizabeth while the other children are playing in this beautiful summer day. John turns to her and opens his mouth and the conversation begins

John: Mother Elizabeth turns to him.
