Problems of Illegal Immigration
The United States was formed by the immigration of many people from all over the world. However at the present time, the flow of illegal immigration is placing a strain on America. The focus of this paper is on the problems illegal immigration is having on The United States.
At least 200,000 illegal immigrants a year cross the border and settle permanently. This is a huge problem for Americans because these immigrants are taking a lot of jobs away from citizens. They are willing to work for a lot less money, leaving a big percentage of the American population on unemployment. Therefore, Americans are suffering financially because many employers are hiring illegals over citizens. Now, this doesn’t mean America shouldn’t allow immigration because that’s what the country is built on but immigrants need to come legally and we need to start taking a stand on this issue.
Although illegal immigrants are taking work for lower pay, many people of higher class argue that illegals are only taking work that Americans don’t want. What they really mean is that illegals only taking work that THEY don’t want. Also, many of these people of higher class have illegals working for them and don’t want to lose cheap labor.
Since, the U.S. Government depends on taxes to help the economy and to support programs, the economy is hurting. This is a result from illegal immigrants not paying taxes and sending most of there money earned in America to there families outside of the country. In addition, even though illegal immigrants aren’t the only reason for the economy declining, if they spend most of there money in America it would certainly give the economy a positive impact.
