Specific Purpose: To inform my audience of reasons why people procrastinate and ways to stop procrastination.
I. Introduction
I am a procrastinator. Meaning I have the habit of putting tasks off to the last possible minute, and it can be a major problem in both of my career and personal life. As I was preparing this speech, I was already thinking about procrastinating. I had to make a decision whether I attend a party that I know I am going to enjoy or stay home doing schoolwork being completely miserable. It is a dilemma that I constantly deal with and I always end up putting my schoolwork to the side. I stay up all night trying to finish my work and wake up rushing out the door while I hear my mom screaming these infamous words, "You need to get your life together." As I am driving doing about 100mph on my P.O.S. of a car, I am just thinking to myself, "Why do I do this." When deep inside I know I have the potential. I tell myself that I am going to stop. It is definitely not easy. Sometimes I think I need to get psychological attention, be on some kind of drugs, hypnotize me, perform voodoo, I don't know just do something.
