"How to Conquer Public Speaking Fear"

I have always been a shy person and publice speaking was one of the hardest class for me. Why do you think I am

taking it on the internet? This class is to help me excel in my speaking and speaking in public and I might just need later on. I

recently got a job at Bemis and I have to help with meetings and presentations, which might lead in a change in my major. There

are ten very good principles to help over come the fear of speaking in public and five of them apply to me and what I need to work on

in my speeches and speaknig to the public.

Ten Key Principles

1. Speaking in Public is NOT Inherently Stressful

2. You Don't have to be Brilliant or Perfect to Succeed

3. All You Need is Two or Three Main Points

4. You also Need a Purpose That is Right for the Task

5. The Best Way to Succeed is Not to consider Yourself a Public Speaker

6. Humility and Humor Can Go a Long Way

7. When You Speak in Public, Nothing "Bad" Can Ever Happen

8. You Don't Have to Control the Behavior of Your Audience

9. In General, the More Your Perpare, the Worse You Will Do

10. Your Audience Truly Wants You to Succeed

Personal Five

Speaking in Public is NOT Inherently Stressful is a principle that applies to me. I am one of those people

who need to learn that speking in public is not that big of a deal. "You are no more or less human than they are." I

need to run that though my head every time I speak in public. Saying how I feel and my opinions to people I know is

easy for me. Get me up in front of a crowd and tell me to state my opinion, is a little harder. Just doing my speech

on camera was challenging, because I am usually shy. So next time I am getting ready to do a speech I am going

to think to myself. "No more or less human than they are."

You also Need a Purpose That is Right for the Task. Sometimes in my speeches I say things that are

unnecessary. Things that don't even need to be spoken about. I worry about if my purpose is good enough for my

listeners, if they will get anyting out of it. I need to just learn to go with the flow and not worry about anything, just

speak my mind and give them the best
