Another area that needs to be addressed is, "What could be done differently in modern society to better serve Radio's needs?" This film took place in the 1960's and the services available in the 1960's were much different than those available in modern society, not to mention the differences in culture competency and cultural awareness. These services include; Early Intervention Programs, Head Start, JOBS, special education, Certified Personal Assistants, community group homes, and many more.

Radio would have greatly benefited from Earl Intervention Programs. Early Intervention programs are offered free of charge to the children in the community that have special needs. Today, Radio's development disability could have been diagnosed and treated at an early age. For instance, Radio's speech impediment could have been addressed by a culturally competent speech pathologist. With improved speech capabilities, Radio would have had an improved ability to attend the special education classes also offered by Early Intervention. Moreover, Radio would have been able to receive socialization with other children and adults through this program.

If Radio successfully completed the Early Intervention programs, he may have qualified for the Head Start program. While Radio is developmentally disabled, Head Start offers special education classes that he would potentially qualify for due the fact he lives in a low income family. Moreover, Head Start and Early Intervention programs are staffed with culturally competent and disability competent team members.

The JOBS program could potentially provide Radio's mother with daycare assistance. The movie depicts Radio's mother as leaving Radio alone while she is at work; moreover, she is depicted as living in a low-income environment. As a young child and even into his teen years, Radio would have needed someone to watch over
