Are you a soft drink addict? Do you have the urge to have one or if not one but many in a day? The feel of a refreshing cold soft drink touches your taste buds leaving you speechless. If you find yourself wanting a soft drink right now, then you are already hooked. In today’s society sodas are on every advertisement in the world. The soft drink industry pays millions of dollars to have their commercial’s air on television every minute. What they don’t tell you are the effects of consuming soft drinks can do to you.

When someone is deciding weather to eat or drink something they always look at how it will affect them. Nether less of how good it satisfies your taste buds. All food contains things that are good and bad for you. Soft drinks are the most in demand beverage in the world. sadly, the most consumed drink is extremely toxic to your body.

People often say that soft drinks bring happiness with its refreshing flavor that makes a bad day turn into something magical. That shouldn’t be the real reason to drink them. Todays advertisements persuades you into drinking them, so it’s not your fault. We should all consider and do our bodies a favor and stop drinking soda. By drinking healthier choices such as water and teas. We can get rid of all the toxins produced by consuming drinks.

The U.S department of Agriculture (USDA) recommends people eat 1,600 calories a day and not eat six teaspoon’s of refined sugar. The advantage boy takes in about 2,750 calories and one and a half can of soda with fifteen teaspoons of sugar a day. The average girl takes in about 1,850 calories per day and one can with ten teaspoons of sugar. Us as teenagers reach our recommended sugar limit with just one can of soda. Therefor we are limited to what we can eat such as candy, ice cream, and cookies.

If teenagers and adults were to substitute a can of soda for a bottle of water, they would be able to enjoy eating all the sweet temptations and not worry about exceeding the sugar limit that is recommended by the USDA. To a teenager it would be easier to give up a can of soda and keep all the intake sugary foods. Rather than giving up all the junk food for a simple can of soda. For adults it maybe be difficult to give up a simple can of soda, because they have already become addicted to it.

The consummation of so much soda has an extreme amount of sugar which also has a lot of calories. Those sugars turn into fat that is being stored in our body. Our bodies did not evolve to deal with the daily sugar jolts were giving them when we drink sodas and other sweetened drinks. According to the USDA soft drinks are the fifth largest source of calories for adults. A single soda contains forty-two grams of sugar it is equivalent to eating ten spoons over filled with sugar. Which over time the amount of sugar over laps causing health issues.

According to our society we are focused way too much on weight and looks that we forget the effects soda has on humans. When the sugar is mixed in with high fructose corn syrup. The mixture created makes your blood sugar to skyrocket and cause insulin reaction to the body. Over time the body won’t be able to resist the amount of glucose in the blood being produced and the person will become diabetic.

According to “My Health New Daily” drinking one twelve ounces of soda a day can cause the risk of type two diabetes to increase. Another heath issues are asthma, the sodium benzoate that is found in sodas can be harmful for the body. If consumed in large quantities. Although sodium benzoate is many of our every day foods and beverage’s drinking much of it causes a reaction to a reoccurring rash, asthma and eczema.

Another example by “Kimber Stannope University of California” explains that, we as a society have changed foods with starch such as breads and pastas for a soda loaded with sugars. When we eat carbs like bread our intestine absorbs the necessary nutrients and turns it into an energy in the form of glucose. This energy travels up through our body into our liver, the liver then collects energy as needed. When the liver is full the glucose continues its journey through out the body. Making the energy available for other parts of the body to use such as the brain, nervous system, and your heart.

Fructose is produced by the sugar in the sodas, the glucose travel’s up to the liver, but instead of moving upward until it reaches the liver. The sugar stays there making the liver over flow with glucose. If the same process continues overtime the liver starts to grow fat inside the liver which goes up into your blood stream causing you to have high levels of cholesterol, triglycerides and cardio vascular diseases if not taken care of right away you have a higher chance of having a stoke, or heart attack.

Sugar should be a special occasion food like birthdays and holidays. There are many ways you can change your outcomes and avoid becoming diabetic, obese, and other health factors. The good news is there are simple ways to avoid and reverse the damaged avoid sugary drinks such as soft drink, sports drinks etc. Try tea or water as a substitute instead of drinking all those empty calories.
