The team on the field, yelling, screaming, hoping they would win. The game wasn't about winning anymore. The team consists of mixed blacks and whites. They wanted to prove to the community that it wasn't about the color. It was about each other. To prove that skin doesn't matter.

First of all, through out all the families this community had been high

on discrimination of prejudice. For example, Gary's mom, she had a problem with Gary and Julius hanging out. When they made plans Gary's mom would fine a way to put those plans away and have Gary forget about Julius. In the end Gary's mom realizes that Julius isn't so bad after all. Another example would be Sheryl and Nikki. When they first met they didn't want to have anything to do with one another. In the end they grow not to like each other but too set aside their differences and get along.

Secondly, the team members, this part was very important. These were the people that proved to the whole community that it didn't matter about what color your skin was. For example, when the team members (in the beginning) got together in the gym they all sat in groups of white and groups or black. Soon enough they were all sitting mixed together forming a bond that would never break.

Last, the results in the community. Example, when the school year first started and it was a black and white school the whole community seemed to jump into it, just because they didn't approve of the skin color, they all were against the idea of the school. Also, some kids made many racial comments, mostly at the kids on the football team because they actually got along, stuck up for one another, and treat each other with respect. After a while people started to follow the teams

lead.
