I believe that it is important for people to have proper respect for the flag of the United States. There are a lot of people protesting everything these days and there are a lot of flags being displayed. But are they being displayed correctly. Are people showing respect for the flag?
I will discuss the history of the flag, the proper way to display the flag, and the fact that it is illegal to have a flag printed on your clothes. I will also discuss whether a person has the right to burn or otherwise deface the flag.
Is burning the flag a right? Do people have the right to burn the flag in protest of something? Some people want to make flag burning as a protest a major crime. Is the symbol of our freedom more important the freedom?
The players involved in this discussion are every citizen of the United States. Everyone is guaranteed the same rights. We all have the right to protest but do we have the right to burn the flag in protest. There are people who believe that flag burning is an example of dissent that is covered by our First Amendment Freedom of Speech.
I want to make the tentative claim that yes we the citizens of the United States of America have the right to burn the flag in protest. The flag stands for freedom. The freedom to burn the flag is our right guaranteed to us by the United States Constitution
