To begin this assignment I went to the D.I.A ( Detroit Institute of Art). After walking around for hours and looking at everything there was really nothing that caught my eye or spoke to my soul. Sure there were really nice things there but as far as what I was looking for there was nothing. So I left empty handed no closer to finishing this assignment. About three weeks later a friend called me and we were discussing this class he told me that when he took it he went the holocaust museum, and maybe I should look into it. So I went. Not only was there art it was also very educational and raw. They did not hide anything. They showed Jews for what they were before during and after the holocaust. When you first walk in you are greeted by a women and she gives you the run down "no cell phones, no cameras, and no chewing gum." After letting you know the rules she gives you a map and tells you to take your time. In the first room of the museum there is a time line that spans from 1792-2001 and runs across every wall of the room. Above each date there is a caption and a piece of art work depicting what happened at that time. Some Art work is biblical others portraits and some even gruesome in nature. From this room you are pushed into a huge room with cathedral ceilings. Many things are held in the room from attaint Jewish artifacts such as, menorahs and candles, to giant paintings the go from floor to ceiling depicting every day Jewish life from history to know. In the center of the back wall there is a glass case filled with seven men and one women standing around a table the figures are made out of clay or what resembles clay. the man sitting in a high chair at the head of the table is leaning forward pointing to the women at the foot. his hat is black and robes white linen. the six men standing on either side of the table are wearing long black robes with matching hates. Each figure is posed differently and there facial features are dramatically distorted
