Revolution

I have spent the past four years searching for ideas of what to do with my life. I always knew it involved some aspect of Biology, but I could never pinpoint what in particular I wanted to do. Throughout this semester I have been exposed to many different career paths I could take. This has swayed me to make a decision on my future.
I, first off, am a Microbiology major. I fell in love with microbes freshman semester and since then I have been wondering what options I had in such a small field. The truth is I have learned through this semester that it isn't a small field. I could do anything from teaching to law to working for the CDC. I have always wanted to change the world and help people. This is difficult with my personality. I am introverted. I work well with a small group of people, but I couldn't handle a position like a nurse who sees multiple people a day. Learning my skills and abilities has aided in my career decision.
When the epidemiologist from the CDC came in and spoke to us about what she did for her first two years I became curious. I went home and looked into it and decided that once I got my PhD, I would apply for this opportunity. I have always wanted to go out in the world and investigate disease and this seems like my opportunity to do this. I know it is competitive to get into, but that only drives me to work harder and succeed.
Her speech greatly revived my desire for adventure and disease. I think this path would be a perfect fit for my personality, passion, and need. Every Microbiology student dreams of getting into the CDC and here is a way in that will teach me skills and train me in disease investigation.
I already have a background working at Emory doing clinical studies for AIDS. After working there for 6 years, I am now a trained coordinator. I have learned a great deal about infectious disease throughout this time. This background will help in not only getting into PhD school, but
