Humor can reflect the healthy release of feelings during painful or even tramatic situations. Jim Northrup comically breaks down Indian stereotypes while at the same time educating people in an easy fun going way. I think that the most moving chapter for me personally in this book was the last chapter: Were Still Here, which Jim Northrup uses to explain how he feels towards the white population and how we are constantly doing silly things which make him laugh. For example Jim Northrup talks about watching a TV advertisement about how you can a new type of food for your cat which helps with its urinary track. "I'll have to drop one worry form the list to make room for the cat pee problems. I also have another worry, I don't have a cat" (230). Jim Northrup also points out to the reader that we live in such a materialistic world were we are constantly wanting the new and great next best thing because everyone else is doing it or already has it. However Northrup points out that not all things done by the white people make him laugh. The NSP (northern state powers) has a plan to store radioactive wastes in dry casks. The casks would be placed on an island on the Mississippi River . "Personally, I don't think it is possible to compromise with killer wastes. We need to quit making things that are dangerous for ten thousand years" (231). I agree with Northrup on the whole dumping of waste, we need to stop abusing our planet and its resources. I think that Indians and other environmentalist our the perfect people to start a campaign for protecting the planet, if we had more people in the house senate with Northrup's voice I think a lot more positive things would end up getting done. For example Northrup points out the problem of floods in Mississippi River which usually come unexpected and hard to tract, just this one little natural disaster would be horrible for
