Rhetorical analysis of object
Naturally bright colors stand out, or catch one's attention. My object is a colorful bottle of sunscreen. I think its producer intentionally applied different techniques such as color, diction, and font (size) to sell its product and clearly designate its target.
As stated before, the color of the bottle of sunscreen stands out strongly. I think the producer intended to stand out to catch consumer's attention when placed beside competitors. In addition to that, kids love colorful objects. My object has many colors such as yellow, blue and pink and when they are collaged together some show more than others and this amuses the eye. I think they used yellow as the main color to bring to thought the sun, as it is bright -and depicted as yellow while the other colors are for fun. The colors are soft and bright opposed to dark/ sharp so to me this presents the idea of gentleness and care. Also I believe the pink symbolizes girls and the blue symbolizes boys. There is alliteration like Banana Boat and Long Lasting that also makes it seem fun for the kids and parents. Further, I think they make their target clear since the word "KIDS" is centered and the biggest word on the entire bottle. The word "KIDS' is also bubbly so again I think soft and fun, while the rest of the text is regular font and easy to read. Phrases like "Tear Free" and "Hypoallergenic" are the next biggest terms and are aimed for the parents, even for children that can read, to notify that the product will not hurt and is good for the child.
