Title: Rice My Favorite Meal

Half of the world rely on rice as a daily staple food why is that so? Rice is the seed of the grass species known as oryza sativa. As a rich and nutritious cereal grain, it is the most widely consumed staple food for a large part of the world’s human population. And mostly cultivated in Asia. Therefore, it is my favorite because it is easy to prepare, healthy and deliciously prepared by mom. Rice comes in small brown or white color and long or short in grains.

Firstly, easily prepared, rice saves me a lot of time and tedious stress that goes along when preparing other thick homemade dishes. When I come back from classes with my stomach grumbling out of hunger, I head straight to the kitchen set my pot on the electric white cooker and add some cups of water, then, I allow it to boil after which I add my grains of rice, because it is coarse and hard in texture when uncooked. While the rice steams, it gets me attracted to its bubbling and foamy sound as that of an empty bowl when tossed around, I also add my salt to taste, after some minutes it becomes ready, and takes a white form like a cotton wool, soft as a chocolate candy and I can consume it with any tasty sauce of my choice.

Secondly healthy meal, rice contains the essential body needed nutrients under the six classes of food, I cannot recall if rice consumption has in any way endangered my health, because it is rich in carbohydrate, cholesterol free so I would not be bothered about heartburns after consumption. Although low in sodium, but salt acts as a sodium to it when added. it is also easy to chew and digest, contains vitamins and mineral also gluten free, although low in protein but it can be complimented with beans.

Lastly, deliciously prepared by mom, she prepares it in a tantalizing and spicy way as either jollof rice or stewed, jollof is when she mixes the sauce together with the rice and it turns yellow in color, while stewed is when she prepares a sauce to be eaten with the white rice while she cooks either jollof or stew the sweet aroma fills the air as that of a lily fragrance, making me salivate and detect on how tasteful it will be. And when served it looks mouthwatering with its yellow color and most especially when served with vegetables, beef or chicken. when eating I can feel the sweet and tangy taste of the pepper, oil, tomatoes and vegetables making little or no sound while I crunch. Then I take a glass of juice afterwards.
