After reading the essay "Once More to the Lake," by E.B. White, all I could do was think about my family trips. Riggs Lake on Mount Graham was my favorite getaway with friends and family. Even though we did not camp around this lake but going to that lake was so much fun. As I grew up my parents always made sure that my brother and I had the best summer vacation but during the rest of the school year we all needed our little getaways which included camping in the mountain and fishing at Riggs Lake.

"Once More to the Lake" is a story of a father and his son who visits an old family vacation spot. During the story, White tends to go back and forth between memories and his reality. He mentioned that even from all the terrible things that happened to he and his family the first time they went to the lake that it was the best vacation they ever had. As a father he wanted his son to have the same experience as he did as a child. As White and his son arrive to the lake he notices that very little has changed. The only thing that really changed was the middle path to get up to the restaurant that had been taken out. White also notices how his son acts just as he did as a young boy at the lake. At times it was hard for White to determine whether he was he in his pants or walking on the side. This was hard to determine this because his son was acting just as he did as a child. In the end White describes a deathly feeling in his groin area as his son went swimming during the rainstorm.

It seems that it is White who died but it is also possible that it was his son who could have died. It is an open ending type essay.

My favorite trip up to Riggs Lake was back when I was about 12 years old. Sitting in the bed of the truck with my brother and our dog, half way up the mountain our dog took a poop near our feet. This was terrible because it smelled so dreadful and there
