Case Background
Your Team is starting a new airline. Your territory is the European Continent.
You are to:
- Organize your new airline’s departments
- Name your Airline
- Define your target market(s) – with supported documentation pro/con
- Demographic research into potential locations for your HUB of operations pro/con
- Select your HUB – complete research documentation supporting your selection pro/con
- Demographic research into your ten (10) potential outlying destinations – complete research documentation supporting your selection pro/con
- Based upon the case assumptions, you are to produce a proforma budget analysis based on 90% and 80% occupancy per flight
- Produce an organizational chart
- Produce an organizational flow chart of operations
- Produce a complete RISK ASSESSMENT PROFILE!
Facts and Assumptions
- You have a consortium that is financing your operation.
- You will be flying a Boeing 737 with a typical configuration of 148 passengers.
- You are leasing your ten (10) aircraft from another major airline.
- Your maximum flight time from your HUB to your outlying destinations is 2½ hours
- Your normal cruising speed is 564 mph, or approximately 907km/hr.
- You are leasing airport property for your operations in all eleven (11) locations. Leased property includes your ticket counter area; baggage processing area; gate area, including tarmac, jet ways, etc.; maintenance and repair areas; hanger space.
- Your leasehold improvement allowance is $1,000,000 usd, per location – a one-time expense.
- You have the option of including freight in your operational plan.
- Your ticket price is set at $250usd round trip.
- You can obtain a replacement aircraft with 72 hours’ notice to your supplier.
- You are responsible for all repairs, maintenance, upkeep and insurance for each of your leased airliners.
- You may make the decision to lease or to purchase your computer system hardware (with justification).
- You also own/lease (your option with justification) various ground transportation vehicles.
- Goal is to fly 365 days/yr
