Romeo And Juliet

Romeo and Juliet takes place in Verona, the play is about two

chief families the Montagues and the Capulets. These two families are

enemies; many fights break out between them when they meet in the

streets. The prince of Verona stops the fight and says anyone who

breaks the peace from now on will be executed. Romeo the son of

Montague is in love with Capulet's niece, Rosalina. Capulet wants

his daughter Juliet to marry Paris who's a rich nobleman, so the

Capulets arrange a party so they can meet each other. Romeo and his

friends go to the party disguised, hoping to see Rosalina, but when in

search of her meet Juliet who he falls in love with, by the end of the

party Juliet also falls in love with Juliet.

After the feast Romeo arrives at Juliet balcony of her room. They

speak though the night and arrange to get married secretly; Juliet's

nurse takes messages between them to arrange the wedding. They are

also helped by the priest, Friar Lawrence, and get married the next

day.

The next thing to happen in the story is that Tybalt, Juliet's cousin

is angry because Romeo went to the Capulets party. Mercutio, Romeo's

friend meets with Tybalt and start to quarrel, Romeo arrive and tries

to calm Tybalt down but thing start to get worse and Tybalt kills

Mercutio. In rage Romeo kills Tybalt, and flees realising what he has

done. The prince arrives with Montague and Capulet to find out what

happens and banishes Romeo from Verona. The next day after spending

the night with Juliet, Romeo leaves for Mantua. Friar Lawrence

promises to help to reveal the secrete of the marriage at a better

time. Meanwhile the Capulet decides Juliet should marry Paris right

away, and Paris doesn't know she is already married to Romeo. Juliet

refuses but Capulet says that he'll force her of throw her onto the

streets.

Juliet goes to Friar Lawrence, who tells her to agree to the marriage,

but gives her a potion to take the night before the wedding which will

make appeared that she is dead for forty - two hours. At this time

when Juliet is unconscious he will tell Romeo to go and rescue her

from the graveyard and take her to Mantua. Juliet fakes her own death

and is put in the family vault.

The Friar doesn't get the message to Romeo in time and hears that

Juliet is dead and decided to go to her grave to kill himself. He buys

the poison and then goes to the outside of the vault when he meets

Paris, who tries to arrest him for returning to Verona. They fight,

and Paris is killed, and Romeo breaks into the vault. He then kisses

Juliet, who is still unconscious; Romeo then drinks the poison and

dies beside her. Juliet wakes up to find Romeo beside her. She

realises what has happened, stabs herself and dies.

Paragraph one - The Nurse

The character of the Nurse is more of a nanny to Juliet and not of a

medical nurse. She seems to play a comedy part, as she is an old

windbag. The relationship between the Nurse and Juliet is very strong

as the Nurse as been a mother to Juliet ever since she was born, by

even breast feeding her when she was a baby. In act 1 scene 3 the

nurse can recall how old Juliet is and what happened when she was two

years of age. The Nurse also gives Juliet pet names as if a mother

would, she calls her

" Lamb, Lady Bird and a Pretty Fool "

Act 1 Scene 3

The Nurse also act as an intermediary for Romeo and Juliet, the Nurse

arranges them both to meet, by sending messages back and forth, she

helps Romeo to see Juliet by having some one to have a rope ladder for

him to climb up,

" bring thee cords made like a tackle stair. "

In act 3 scene 2 when she know the death of Tybalt and tells the death

of him to Juliet, the Nurse criticises Romeo for what he has done as

she is upset for Tybalt. Though after this she still goes and finds

Romeo, so he can meet with Juliet for the last time before he is

banished. I feel the Nurse does this for Juliet because she wishes here

to be happy, and as she feels for here to be her own child she loves

Juliet to much to see her in so much sorrow.

In act 3 scene 5 the Nurse does not approve of Juliet's doings of not

accepting to marry Paris in her hour of need, for some reason of all

the
