There are many tragedies to Romeo and Juliet. The obvious one, being the death of them both, at the end of the film.

However, there are more. Another of the main tragedies is the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets.

I will recount the story and then point out the tragedies.

Romeo and Juliet meet at a party, at Juliet’s house, and fall in love at first sight.

But, because of their feuding families, they have no other choice but to keep their love for each other a secret.

Romeo tells friar Lawrence that before he met Juliet he hadn’t felt true love, and asks him to marry them…behind their parents’ backs.

Romeo’s mother is worried about her sun because when he is home he closes all of the windows and curtains and makes himself an artificial light; I think she is worried that her son is becoming depressed because the girl that he likes, Rosalyn, has been teasing him. Benvolio tries to talk to his cousin Romeo and asks him about love.

Later on that night Mercutio manages to get invitations to the Capulets party, they get there and after a while Romeo sees Juliet, and they fall in love.

They get married the next day, and that’s when the real trouble begins. About three hours after Romeo and his Juliet were married, Romeo killed Juliet’s cousin Tybalt. Juliet is heartbroken, but refuses to deny her love for Romeo. Romeo then goes to see his new wife. Early, next morning Romeo wakes up from a nightmare and flees Juliet’s room just before her mother comes in.

Juliet’s mother comes into her room, and tells her that her father has arranged a wedding between her and Dave Paris. Juliet isn’t happy about it at all and tells her mother. Her mother then tells her dad, who becomes abusive and hits Juliet and pushes her to the ground. He also hits her mum and her nurse.

He tells Juliet that if she doesn’t marry Dave Paris he will throw her out of the house and basically leave her for dead.

Being heartbroken, Juliet goes to see friar Lawrence and tells him that she doesn’t want to live anymore. Friar Lawrence decides to give Juliet a kind of potion that will make her sleep for 24 hours, and make it seem like she’s dead.

Juliet takes the potion and falls asleep.

The next morning she is found and believed to be dead. She is taken to the church and given a funeral. During the funeral Balthazar goes to the church and sees Juliet laid out. He then goes to Romeo, who has been living just outside of Verona, to tell him that his wife has died. Romeo is so upset that he storms off to Balthazar’s car and they both go
