The Case of the Lion Dance by Laurence Yep is about Lily
and her great Auntie, Tiger Lil, trying to solve a mystery to find out who wants to sabotage the Wok Inn restaurant.
Auntie is hired to publicize the opening of the Wok Inn restaurant because she learned a lot about the public in her movie career. She plans to have a lion-dance competition with lots of firecrackers. Her plans are sabotaged when someone sets off a bomb. Police think that she overdid with the firecrackers until she finds clues that lead to the real thief which happens to be the restaurant’s waiter whose name is Bernie! I think that the police should not have judged Auntie alone. They should have judged every person that was present to watch the event. The bomber could’ve been right there in the crowd watching what was happening to see if his or her plans were successful.
In conclusion, The Case of the Lion Dance by Laurence Yep is about Lily and her Auntie trying to solve a mystery to find a mysterious bomber. From a scale of one to five, this book deserves a four, it’s not a very bad book, but it could’ve been a better one.
