Schools in England are not the same as in our country. Children begin to go to school when they are five years old. Up to five years children go to nursery school. A nursery school is a school for children between the ages of 2 and 5 that is staffed by qualified teachers and professionals who encourage and supervise educational play rather than simply provide child care. Another common name for nursery school is preschool. From their very inception, nursery schools were designed to improve the health and welfare of children. From five to eleven children in England go to a primary school. A primary school is a school in which children receive primary or elementary education. At primary school children learn about a wide range of subjects as well as Literacy and Maths, which are currently compulsory. Other subjects include: Science, Design and technology (ICT), History, Geography, Art and design, Music, Physical Education, Religious education.
From eleven to sixteen boys and girls in England go to a secondary school. There are two types of secondary school: grammar school and secondary modern school. They begin to learn in form one. They have many subjects in their time-table. Secondary school subjects include mathematics, language, natural sciences (combined chemistry, biology, and physics), social sciences (history), and physical education. Moreover, there is a wide choice of extra-curricular activities like psychology, journalism, pottery, cooking, and so on. The sixth form is the last form in this school (age 16-18). But only 45% continue with full-time education after 16. After school children can choose higher education: university and other. School in England can be private and public, mixed school and separate school.
