2. Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in written communications
to provide information, referring phone calls, visitors, and distributing mail.
In my current position I communicated with representative from a wide range of private companies and departmental managers regarding the status of various correspondence or requests. I communicate with executives and department heads to respond to their request for information and clarify matters of questions via email or telephone.
Communication is a very important factor in having a good working relationship with my supervisor and co-workers. In reference to the type of clerical position I have, my communication skills are in great demand. My verbal communication is clear and concise with my supervisor and co-workers to assure them I understand completely what is expected of me on different tasks.
I'm responsible for answering incoming telephone lines, directing the call to the appropriate person and taking complete and legible messages.
As an Personnel Clerk in the Human Resources Office one of my duties were to sort incoming mail for distribution to approximately 6 distribution points using the directories, organizational listings, and similar supportive materials to ensure proper routing. Received all incoming mail including certified and registered mail, express mail, pouch material, etc., and processed in accordance with established policy. Prepared and screened outgoing mail materials to assure that they are in proper format, assembled and addressed in accordance to appropriate Postal regulations (e.g., packages are marked with the proper weight class) and resolve any discrepancies.
