Sense and Sensibility
The author of the text is Jane Austin . Sense and Sensibility is Jane Austen's first published novel. Although similar to her other novels in plot, tone, and type of characters, Sense and Sensibility differs from the others in its representation of the courtship of two sisters; rather than one heroine, there are two. Elinor, the subdued, quiet one, and Marianne, the emotional, outgoing one.
The title of the movie is called as “Sense and Sensibility”. From the title we can understand that the story is closely related with the sense and sensibility of the main heroes. I think that the author has correctly given the name, because everything in the story is closely connected with the events in the movie. The author describes Sense and Sensibility of all the members of the family. At the end of the movie two sisters find their love and happiness.
The subject is pride and reason.
The plot of the story shows how honesty win the problems in the real life situations.
Compositional part include: introduction, Complication, climax and relaxation. This is a closed type structure.
My attitude for this story is good. Firstly it gives us a sample of solution of problems of real life situations. Each person should control his or her own sensibility and sense.
The text is written ironically. The author criticize the social problems of the society. Austen shows the position of women who are deprived of the means to earn an income but needed to maintain their social standing.
The story has four parts: introduction, complication, climax and denouement. Introduction starts with with the widowed Mrs. Dashwood and her three daughters—Elinor, Marianne, and Margaret—being ousted from their home when the new owner, John Dashwood and his wife, Fanny, move in. John Dashwood, Mr. Dashwood's eldest son from his first marriage, inherits his father's entire estate, under the laws of primogeniture.
The complication part starts when the Dashwood women are given a home, Barton Cottage, on the estate of Sir John Middleton, a distant relative. The family have different situations with problems and among them: love of two sisters to men, their sensibilities, feelings, attitude to love and money.
