  1. Give an example of how people sometimes mistakenly believe that social psychology is simply demonstrating things that are common sense.

There was a video about a family who had been hit by a gang of youths. Most people commented that the family must have done something wrong. The fact is they didn’t accept the illegal requirements of this gang. (40 words)

  1. How would you change people’s behavior in Vietnam by using comformity and/or compliance techniques to stop honking their horns?

In order to make people stop honking their horns, the government could send more police to big junctions to catch violators red-handed and raise the fine or even confiscate their vehicles. (31 words)

  1. You are in a business negotiation with an important customer. What concept in social psychology would you use to your advantage? Why?

If I had a negotiation with an important customer, I would use the persuasion concept to maximize my advantage. As a skill, persuasion is essential in effective negotiations. It would make the customer believe that we could accept and appreciate their needs and concerns. (45 words)

  1. What Vietnamese social norm should be modified and/or eliminated? Why?

In my opinion, the Vietnamese should change their habit of throwing litter. This action leads to environmental pollution and simultaneously creates a  very bad image of Vietnamese people in the minds of international friends. (34 words)

  1. How can people avoid falling victims to the social influence of obedience?

To prevent people from being the victim of obedience, each of us should take part in social psychology classes to become aware of the situational pressures that lead us to obey. (31 words)

  1. Give an example of how framing can be used to influence people’s behavior.

To reduce the number of smokers, the government could use one of these slogans: “Smoking is not good for your health” and “86% of people who smoke suffers from lung cancer.” The second slogan is considered more effective on people than the first one. (44 words)
