In the year 1900, the northern China fell into the chaos because of a series of assault aimed at Westerners and Chinese Christians. In order to wiped out all the “white devil” in China, the mob organized together and suddenly swept most parts of northern China. These people are called Yi-He-Tuan in China, or the Boxer in the Western World.

The exact origin of Boxer is not clear. But it is sure that the found of Boxers related to secret society Tangs or associations such as the Small Sword, the White Lotus, or some martial art groups in the late 19th century. The start of Boxer Rebellion dues to the terrible situation of China. In the late 19th century China was suffering from miserable setback. The Qing regime lost the First Sino-Japanese War in 1895, it means that the “Westernization Movement” started by powerful mandarins ultimately failed. Then in 1898 the “Hundred Days’ Reform” started q by Chinese constitutionalists finally became a farce. The imperial old liners were supported by Empress Dowager Ci Xi and seized power.
