Shakespeare was one of the most amazing writers of his time. Born in Stratford-on-Avon on April 23, 1564 he had his formal education at a grammar school that focused on Latin grammar. Shakespeare's father, John Shakespeare, was a glove maker and his mother was Mary Arden. As a young boy Shakespeare's love of nature was greatly influenced by the surrounding countryside. This love of nature lasted his entire lifetime.

When Shakespeare was eighteen he was married to Anna Hathaway. She was twenty six, eight years older than him at the time. They were married in November of 1582 and had their first child, Susanna, only six months later in May. After their first child they had two more, Hamnet and Judith, who were twins.

In about 1587 Shakespeare left Stratford for London. Anna and their children did not go with him because Anna was a puritan.

Shakespeare was part of the Lord Chamberlain's men which later became the Kings men. Most of the money Shakespeare made was from the admissions to his plays. He had a very good reputation in London and his plays were enjoyed by everyone from the poorest people to the queen.

During his lifetime Shakespeare wrote thirty seven plays. In 1610 he retired to his property in Stratford where he died on April 23, 1616.

When Shakespeare arrived in London England had just defeated the Spanish Armada and many people wanted to learn about their countries history. This served as a big advantage to Shakespeare because watching dramas, they thought, was a good way to learn about the history of their country.

There were many traders and merchants that were in London at the time when Shakespeare was there. There were also people who offered quick courses in some different foreign languages so that people could communicate and negotiate with the traders that were there.

The Renaissance was also going on while Shakespeare
