"A Day to Remember"

One day on a hot summer's eve, the town of Brink was the place to be. Its day life was very classical, meaning that it was very ordinary, dull, and boring. When it came to its night life, its streets are lit up like Christmas day and also the streets are full of people, so that if you dropped a penny it wouldn't be found. Brink is a small, but lively town. It was one summer's day that the citizens of Brink would remember.

On the north side of Brink was Mt. Gravel, named after Dean Gravel who climbed to the top of it in the 70's. Over to the east you will find a lush and dense forest. In the west was a sandy desert that goes on and on for miles. Then to the south is the Dirt River, it is called that because of how dirty it is. Many people say the river is dirty because of the sewers drain into it; others disagree and say that it is the natural color of the river.

The Rockwells are a well known "gang" or so that's what they call themselves, around town. The Rockwells ride there bikes around Brink, and patrol it. Usually you could find the Rockwell’s on 13th Street; they call this street their "turf," because that is where most of the "gang" lives. Tobie, who is 12 years old, is the leader of the gang. Everyone looks up to Tobie and when they need help they go to him. Tobie was riding his bike up and down 13th Street; when Lennie an 11 year old, strongly built, and very intelligent kid came out of his house and grabbed his scooter and rolled down to Tobie. Tobie told him "have the gang meet at the base at four o'clock sharp." Their base was an abandoned and broken down house on the outskirts of town. Everyone in town thinks this house is haunted, because the Millers who used to live in it secretly disappeared one day. This house has been worn down and weathered by the wind, snow, and rain. Their base was perfect for them though, it met all the needs for the gang. The gang had found a few treasures in this house one day, like the letter they found dating back to WWII and also the postage. When the gang arrived at the base, they had seen Tobie’s bike was already there. They decided to go in the house, but when they got to the doorway they were stopped by Tobie. Tobie stood right in front of Doodle who was leading everyone in the house. Tobie said "remember the way we go into the base?" Then of course they all got in their position in line. They went by how long they have been in the gang. So then first Tobie came, then Lennie, after Lennie was Charlie. Charlie was a small and scrawny boy. Charlie’s heritage is Mexican and his nickname is Junior. After Charlie came Doodle. Doodle was the biggest of the gang, but yet he was the youngest. Doodle has the hardest fist of iron anyone could feel. When they all were in the house and situated, Tobie started going over the urgent news, but then Tobie was interrupted by a large racket coming from the second floor of this house. Tobie remembered when there was a noise above his bedroom once, but it turned out to be a bird, that was when he was four now he is twelve and is ready to fight. Suddenly, the racket got louder and louder until Tobie couldn't take it anymore. Doodle was frightened and was ready to leave, but Junior stopped him. Tobie and Lennie started to walk upstairs then just as they got to the top step of the staircase, WHAM! "What a relief," Tobie said, "it was only a cat." Then in the back room straight down the hallway the door slammed shut, which made the hallway pitch black, because the only window upstairs was in the back room. The sound of a broken window distracted the gang. They all ran outside to see what it was. When they got outside there was a cloud of dust coming off the road. They looked up upon the house and the only window upstairs was broken open, glass was all over the grass and driveway. The gang all went back into the house. Most of the gang went upstairs to check out the room except for Doodle, he was still very terrified.
