Friday the Bush administration argued that when congress authorized military actions against the September 11, 2001 terrorist it also gave the president the power to detain people who never had terrorist affiliations. A good example of this is Huzaifa Parhat a member of the Uighurs who has been detained for up to 6 years. Huzaifa was captured in Afghanistan but is now in Guantanamo Bay as a suspected terrorist. When the only connection Huzaifa has to terrorism is with the East Turkistan Islamic movement a militant group that demands separation from china the United States named it a terrorist group in 2002 also the military says Huzaifa has trained in the ETIM camp to prepare to fight against China. Also Huzaifa says that he considers China the enemy and not the United States. On Friday Huzaifa became the person to challenge the label on him his lawyers say its government hasn’t even met its own relatively low standard to hold him as an enemy combatant and the Justice Department says that Huzaifa never fought against the US and says there is no evidence showing that he was planned to do so yet government attorneys say he can be held under the law authorizing military force against anyone who “planned authorized committed or aided the terrorist attacks.” The government acknowledges it has little to no evidence that Huzaifa has any terrorist enrolment and has to be released here soon along with other Uighurs members and the US doesn’t know where to release them at for they can’t go to china for they will for sure be put into torture or be killed.

I think that Guantanamo Bay is a good thing where we can put people if they are suspected of any terrorist actions…etc we can put them somewhere where they can’t do any harm until we no otherwise. But I also feel that we sometimes abuse Guantanamo bay in the since that we might put people their that don’t need to be their.
