After reading From Sinners in the Hand of an Angry God and The Examination of Sarah Good, you will come to find that each story has its own style, content and views on God. John Edwards's story, From Sinner in the Hand of an Angry God, has a very unique style. It is written as a sermon, because Edwards was a minister. A sermon is a persuasive essay which is spoken, and most of the time is religious. John Edwards uses this sermon to persuade the Church to go out an experience conversion. In The Examination of Sarah Good, it is written in the form of a Transcript. A transcript is a written record of information usually communicated orally. In this case it is a record of trial of a young lady being accused of witchcraft. Unlike Edwards using persuasive writing, the judge in Sarah's trial sets her up with things called loaded questions and loaded language. these are used to set her up she so she is accused of witchcraft. In Angry Sinners, Edwards has his own view on God. His belief is that, just because you come to church every Sunday, it does mean you are going to be Automatically saved from going to hell. He believed that if you want to go to heaven, you must go out and experience conversion, and experience God on your own. On the other hand, in Sarah Good, Her view on God is that he is someone she serves everyday. She explains that she serves the God who created heaven and Earth. So unlike Edwards's sermon, she feels God is someone she serves. Each of these writings has a very different content. From Sinners, was a writing John Edwards created to put fear into people. He would tell the people that he is not surprised that the circle of hell has not opened up and all of the people have not been dropped into it. But Edwards putting fear into the people was good, he did not want to put so much fear into them that they would not stop coming to church, he scarred them so much that they would come to church even more. In The Examination
