wilWhat is Slang? What is its meaning? We have slang here in China. SAY SOME SLANG. Example the wolves clothing bit you told me once. Today I will teach you about English Slang used in many parts of the world. Let us first learn the history of slang. What does the term Slang originally come from? It started as a slang word meaning sale language in French. When translated into English the term becomes known as dirty language. That is why a lot of slang refers to dirty things such as sex, violence, drugs and things often of that nature. Slang often starts in regional places and then expands to become dominate word usage. Ask the students if they ever heard the Michael Jackson song BAD. If they have heard of it, say the term Bad is a slang word meaning cool. Slang often uses different meanings then the words it chooses. Example, in western culture the term hot or cool can mean good looking, impressive, or very good. You might be asked to expand this topic. Be prepared and know that Hot refers to good looking people, Cool means awesome. We use slang in our everyday lives. We use terms such as 88 and lol. The internet has created a whole new culture of Slang. Slang is often used to interpret words quickly but not literally. So now that we know what slang is, let us talk about what slang is not.
